Blood Drive - Target Achieved!

26 Units Donated!

As many of you know, Superior Lexus North hosted our second annual Community Center Blood Drive yesterday here at the dealership. We are happy to say that we met and exceeded our target for blood collection! Out of 28 registered donors, we were able to collect a total of 26 units of blood throughout the day, and exceeded our target of 24 units! We are so thankful for everyone who participated, and know that our efforts are helping to save lives everywhere! A special thanks goes out to the Worth Harley Davidson folks for their participation as well. We couldn't have met our goal without you guys. The blood drives will continue to be a focus for Superior Lexus North, and we hope for continued participation from staff, customers, and friends alike!

Employee Spotlight - Richard Herron

This month in our employee spotlight, we're happy to feature Richard Herron, one of the Superior Lexus North LPD Drivers! 

Richard has been with us for seven years, and his hobbies include fishing, watching his grandkids' basketball games, and spending time with his family. When asked what his favorite thing about working at Superior Lexus North is, he mentioned: "The customers. I know a lot of them from being around the area since 1972. A lot go to my son's church. Drive Pink--What difference can we make?

As October came to a close, we were finally able to tally up just how much we were able to raise for our breast cancer awareness program, Drive Pink. We are so excited to make our donation in the amount of $1,887.00!

The donation has been made to the KU Cancer Center Breast Cancer Patients in Need Fund. We are overjoyed with all of the support that was shown by patients and employees alike! We cannot express our appreciation enough.

From the outset of developing our breast cancer awareness program, we knew that we wanted our donation to be used to help local patients in the Kansas City area. We wanted to be able to make an impact in our city, to our neighbors and friends, and those women who are already affected by breast cancer. It will be used to support their existing needs by covering the cost of items that will help make life a little more tolerable while going through what is likely the most difficult process any human being can go through. Items such as books, blankets, and other needed amenities that they simply are unable to afford on their own due to the overwhelming expenses of patient care. With so many fundraisers benefiting the research-side of breast cancer, we wanted to make sure those who are already affected are considered as well. Thank you, everyone, once again for you continued support. We will be running this program again next year and hope for equal or even better results! You have truly made a difference in many local women's lives!

Lexus DARE vehicle!

Check out the Pittsburg Kansas Police Dept DARE vehicle that made it's way to our service center this month! It was confiscated by the Police Dept from an actual drug dealer, and now will be used to help teach kids about substance abuse prevention. Lexus is proud that one of our vehicles is now being used in such a positive way. A visit from Mr. Rick Hendrick!

Friday October 7th was a very special day for all of us up at Superior Lexus North, for the one and only Mr. Rick Hendrick came in to visit with us! It's not everyday you are afforded the opportunity to meet with the owner of not only Hendrick Automotive Group, but also a very successful Hendrick Motorsports professional racing team. Mr. Hendrick and his team were in town for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race being held at the Kansas City Speedway on October 9th. As luck would have it the Hendrick Motorsports team came away with the win! Jimmie Johnson won his 55th cup, and Hendrick Motorsports achieved its 199th win overall. We were so thrilled to meet with Mr. Hendrick and so thankful that he takes the time to come see each us at the dealership to show is appreciation for our hard work. We will definitely look forward to meeting with him again next year!

This year, in national breast cancer awareness month, Superior Lexus North is running our first ever breast cancer fundraising program! We are so incredibly happy to play a part in the ever-important fight against breast cancer, as nearly everyone knows someone who has been impacted by breast cancer. How could we sit back and not make an effort to help? With that being said, we are proud to announce our participation by launching the Superior Lexus North Drives Pink month! We've got a Chris Cakes pancake breakfast planned, pink items for sale, donation incentives for new car purchases, and much more. Make a trip up to the dealership, and take part with us! All proceeds will be donated to the University of Kansas Cancer Center: Patients in Need Fund. The Lexus IS and the Lexus HS models have been recognized by INTELLICHOICE AND AUTOPACIFIC in 2011! The winners were announced on September 22nd at the Orange County International Auto Show, and Lexus is proud to have two models be awarded.

The Lexus IS has won a motorist choice award in the premium youthful cateogry (second year in a row)!

Lexus hybrid takes on the Nurburgring

Hybrids face the stigma of being more about fuel economy than sport, but the Lexus CT 200h intends to prove it can be a hot hatchback by lapping the Nurburgring. A CT 200h tuned up by Gazoo Racing will compete in the Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy, a six hour endurance race.

Along with suspension tuning, the CT 200h's standard 1.8-liter engine has been swapped out for a 2.4-liter. But the car retains its Lexus hybrid system, letting it use the electric motor from a stop and for added boost under acceleration. This hybrid system will give the CT 200h lower fuel use, a crucial advantage in an endurance race.

Gazoo Racing, a Japanese group racing various Toyota and Lexus models, missed an opportunity to also tune up the hybrid system of the CT 200h. A higher capacity lithium ion battery pack and a higher torque electric motor would give the car added acceleration.

The race will be held on Saturday, May 14.

DRIVEN: Sporty Lexus Compact Hybrid Sharp styling and crisp drivability, plus Prius-like mileage, make CT 200h a more palatable clean machine for driving enthisiasts.

SPEED wrote a great article about the New Lexus CT200! 

Here is a little bit of the article....

"CT, as I'll call it, is a good-looking four-door hatchback that is a dedicated hybrid, i.e. there is no regular gas-powered version to cause confusion. The look may not be as unique as Prius’ but at least those who recognize it will know it is a hybrid and nothing else. Which, I suppose, is an important thing for those who want to be perceived as good people.

With fuel prices hovering around $4 per gallon on average, a cool-looking Lexus hybrid might just fill the bill. Lexus notes that CT is the only luxury-compact hybrid on the market, thus far.

CT does perform with all the tidy excellence of Prius, with a seamless interchange of gasoline and electric power and various modes of operation for either more-efficient or better-performance driving. Like the Prius, its greatest efficiency comes in urban driving where the electric motor has a greater role rather than in highway driving, when the small gas engine does most of the heavy lifting."

The Royal Wedding, will Lexus be there?

Among the crowds of cars that are being used during the royal ceremony stretching between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, His highness Prince Albert the second and his would be wife Miss Charlene Wittstock will be on a ride in a Lexus LS600h. This occasion in all its probability will be the most grand venture of all the marketing efforts of the hybrid car that took place till date. So it can be assumed that top executives are high on their excitement and in absolute exuberance at the event.

This specially designed and made LS600h will sport integrated flashing lights, a royal emblem along with an “MC 01″ license plate. Below the hood there will be the traditional 5.0 liter V8 engine in combination with an electric motor for a net output of 439 HP.

I Scream, You Scream, We ALL Scream for Ice Scream.... and "The Prairie View"

 

Superior Lexus North is celebrating with an ice cream party cthe initiation of their new internal newsletter, "The Prairie View".  A contest was held and Dennis DeGoosh won second and third place with "The Lexus North Journal" and The Lexus News from Prairie View", respectively.  The winning masthead was submitted by our fare leader, Randy Crowell, who donated his winnings to the Red Cross Lexus Relief Fund, to help those suffering in Japan.  The entries were anonymous and voted on by all Superior Lexus employees. 

"The Prairie View" will be issueing its first addition this week!  Keep watch for "The Prairie View"!
