Lexus IS Crafted Using Cardboard Only

What an interesting sight it is, and shockingly beautiful as well! Lexus UK has managed to accurately construct a Lexus IS using ONLY cardboard. It is easy to tell from the picture how much detail clearly went into crafting such a magnificent replica of this one-of-a-kind luxury vehicle. Each cardboard panel had to be individually laser cut and then assembled with glue- and the interior is fully articulated. The entire vehicle took a grand total of three months to build and the attention to detail is absolutely incredible. The cardboard IS was built by Scales and Models, a company from London that builds prototypes. The company stated:

"Each layer was given its own reference number to help ensure it was assembled in the right sequence and the entire assembly was done by hand. A water-based wood glue was used, which had to be left to set for 10 minutes after each application. Accuracy was vital, as changes couldn’t be made once the glue had dried."

2015 Lexus IS F

Forever the IS has been one of our favorites, and for good reason. With just once glance, it is obvious that the IS was crafted to make a bold, eye-turning statement. Contours radiating from the LED lights make a not-so-subtle statement of arrival wherever you go. The IS was crafted with those who love to make an entrance and for those who don’t follow the crowd, but lead it. The rear-wheel drive IS 350 flaunts the same heart-reviving transmission found in the ultra high-performance RC-F Sport. The digital instrument cluster in the IS F Sport was modeled after LFA super car. With performance driving modes to fit any driving terrain, you are all-hands-on-deck with this sport-luxury package. We don’t expect you to take our word for it, which is why we are ready to take you on the test-drive of your life.

A Year with the Lexus IS

Scott Evans of Motor Trend just recently wrapped up a year of driving three different models of the Lexus IS: The IS 250, the IS 350 AWD and the IS 350 F Sport. Evans reported that after putting a grand total of 18, 039 miles on all of the vehicles combined, his end average for each vehicle was shockingly consistent among all three models (roughly around 22 MPG). Evans commented on the top-of-the-line luxurious quality of each vehicle, stating, "All three were crypt-quiet inside and rode nicely despite their sporting pretenses". In addition to having superior reliability, Evans also noted that there was 'zero' cost incurred in service throughout his test drives for each vehicle. Evans commented on the "rich, clear sound of the stereos" and the "top quality" materials on the interior. He took the time to address his impression on the sportiness of the vehicles, stating, "The car is much more responsive than previous models, with sharper turn-in, better handling, and better chassis control." At the conclusion of a year with three different models of the Lexus IS, Evans "confirms expectations" on the car. "They're comfortable, reliable cars that are also sporty in a corner." Evans seems to be convinced of the unmatched quality of the Lexus IS, and for good reason. Lexus will only continue to move forward in its relentless  pursuit of perfection.
