All New Lexus GS F

If you haven't already heard, Lexus USA has debuted the all new sport version of the Lexus GS! Unveiled in all its Ultrasonic Blue glory, the GS was designed to exceed expectations. Yukihiko Yaguchi, the chief engineer in charge of designing the GS F, boasts of the luxury vehicles ability to seamlessly "switch from public-road to track driving, which is the signature of F." Yaguchi also mentions the difficulty in keeping a "track car" luxurious on public roads, yet the GS seems to have made it look easy. The GS F boasts many of the signature F Performance qualities that Lexus has so boldly incorporated in their sport line. Some of these include the mesh grille, the front fender, hood and fascia add visible length tot he car, as well as a rear diffuser and four exhaust outlets to further add to the intimidating exterior.

It is clear that Lexus has made yet another bold leap into the sports car realm, and with great success thus far! Keep an eye out for the Lexus GS F on the roads and the lots (and don't forget the test-drive!)

Interview with Lexus GS F Chief Engineer

Automobile Magazine interviewed chief engineer of the Lexus GS, Yukihiko Yaguchi. Here are a few of the points worth mentioning in the interview as well as a look into Lexus' future:

Automobile: Was there any thought given to increasing power given that the Lexus GS F is bigger and heavier than the RC F, or are you confident it will perform with sedans in the similar class?
Yaguchi-san: The cars’ performance is almost the same so I want customers to choose which they like: sedan or coupe between RC F and GS F, as that is a matter of taste. The GS F will offer a Lexus F brand performance experience with a focus on fun and an easy-to-drive experience, while balancing its street and track character.
Automobile: The F performance brand is now been expanded to two main line models. How much further would you like to expand it?

Yaguchi-san: We don’t have future plans yet that we can share, but the F brand is a key part of Lexus globally going forward.
Automobile: Is there a desire or need to create another halo type vehicle along the lines of the Lexus LFA as an ultimate expression of the F performance brand?

Yaguchi-san: The Lexus RC F-based race car will take that responsibility instead. The RC F GT3 story will evolve in the coming year to help become an ultimate expression of F brand globally.

Lexus Mall-Showroom in the Future?

Could Lexus be interested in using Tesla’s “mall-showroom” strategy in the future? Lexus USA general manager Jeff Bracken states that the showrooms are “clever” , according to an interview with Wards Auto.
“The model that Tesla has to open up their outlets in shopping malls is a clever one, (and) I think they’re getting a lot of folks to stop in and learn about Tesla,” Jeff Bracken, group vice president-Lexus at Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. recently told a crowd at a late November media gathering here.
“We’re interested to watch what (Tesla does), how the business model works and what kind of customers wander into their outlets,” he says. “That’s really interesting to us and that’s about as much as I would be able to share with you today.”
All Tesla stores are company-owned, which reflects a difference in the brands. Bracken sees this as an advantage:
“If we were ever to consider something like that, we would keep our dealers part of the solution, no question about it,” Bracken says. “But it’s intriguing if young folks are telling us they don’t really look forward to going to a traditional dealership, but they still have an interest in buying a vehicle or shopping for a vehicle. (If) that’s an outlet that could work for them, then we need to take a look at that to see if that’s something that could make sense for us.”

Could we see some Lexus mall-showrooms in our future?  Who knows! But for now, you can come to us for all of your Lexus questions!
